Why I Write.........

I have always known I wanted to write, but for years I talked myself out of it. There are too many writers already. Too many books in the world. What if mine isn’t successful?
The excuses came easily, one after another.
Then someone asked me a question that changed everything:
Do you want to write for purpose or for profit?
Without hesitation, I answered for purpose. Monetary success is important but purpose is what calls me to write; everything else grows from there.
In that moment of clarity, I understood that the number of writers, the number of books, the measure of success out in the world didn’t matter. I wanted to write because I love writing. Because it feels necessary.
It’s the one thing that makes me want to leap out of bed in the morning.
Purpose.
